Taurere, a family farm of 2000 acres of east coast hill country, is home to 200 cattle, 800 prendale sheep, 127 horses, and even comes with its own private beach. Here, you will be immersed in New Zealand hospitality and the beauty of the surrounding landscape. |
THE RIDES
Rides cover everything from a one-day excursion to a multi-day adventure. The rides travel along pristine beach, through dunes with views of coastal islands, through groves of ancient Pohutuakwa trees, native bush, and Nikau Palms. Longer rides explore the pine forests and farmland as well. |

Overnight Safari
Two-day with nights spent in a converted woolshed bunkhouse or a comfortable chalet overlooking Tomarata Lake. All the necessities are taken care of on this ride, complete with a Kiwi barbeque.

Rahui's Ride
This ride is named after the chief's daughter who took ownership of the lands until her death at the age of 102. This 3 day/ 2 night adventure can be converted to a 2 day and 1 or 2 night ride if you so choose. Ride along Pakiri Beach through white sand dunes and pine forest. Lunch at the edge of a freshwater lake and swim with the horses afterwards. Climb over Te Arai Point with island views in the distance. Climb to Pa (lookout fortress) of the chief and over farmland to the fishing township of Leigh. Ride to Omaha Marae (Maori marae) and sleep in the meeting house on mattresses before returning to Pakiri Beach to end your journey. |

Tenetahi Trail
Named after the husband of Rahui, this 4 day/ 3 night trip can be changed to 5 day/ 4 night also. Over Te Arai Point, you will learn how the ancestors followed the call of the whales. Ride through pine forest, native bush, dunes, and along the beach and an estuary. Accommodations are beach cabins, a beach house, a farm house, the meeting house in a Maori Marae, or a sawmill. |

Warrior Trail
This 5 day ride journeys along the trails run by warrior, Taukokopu. Lunch at Tomarata Lake and swim with the horses. Explore coastal farm country, an old logging trail through native rainforest and the fishing township of Leigh. Accommodations are beach cabins and a beach house. |

This 7 day adventure follows the Hoteo River from the calm waters and white sands of the Pacific to the black sands of the Tasman Sea. Over high country hills and forests on ancient Maori trails, through lush farmland, pine forests, and through logging trails to the Awarere waterfall and a secret waterfall as well.
