Diving Adventures in Papua New Guinea: Tawali Resort
Located on a volcanic bluff overlooking the clear protected waters of Milne Bay and accessible only by boat, Tawali offers travellers a unique location to dive, relax and enjoy the unspoiled wonders of the South Pacific. The resort is built under a rainforest canopy brimming with exotic orchids and birds, and is designed so guests can interact with the local culture in a very intimate setting.
Tawali is surrounded by the best of Milne Bay – sleepy villages tucked at waters edge, local fisherman gliding by in dugout canoes and narrow paths leading across streams and into the rainforest.
Covered walkways lead away from the main building and observation deck to guest bungalows which are all beautifully appointed. The five guest buildings are set around the top of a bluff overlooking the bay and forests. Each building houses two rooms or bungalows and even though the rooms share a common wall, all bungalows are completely private. At the most Tawali will accommodate twenty divers with ease, which makes your vacation a very intimate experience.
The diving from Tawali resort is both amazing and convenient with the best diving of Milne Bay just minutes away. The amazing Coastal Day Dives include the best Milne Bay muck diving as well as wonderful walls with an abundance of soft corals, large sea fans, anemones with clown fish and large pelagic, such as hammerheads and whale sharks. Trips are scheduled for mornings and afternoons with two dives per trip. Diving on coastal sites is done from two 22-foot boats with twin 50 Honda engines with a maximum of six divers per boat.
