Australia: The Top End: Gagudju Lodge Cooinda
Located beneath a canopy of trees beside the Yellow Water Billabong in Kakadu National Park, Gagudju Lodge Cooinda seems like the base of the world. Surrounded by the abundance of bird species in the Kakadu National Park, guests can sit in awe as this natural area comes to life.
Gagudju Lodge Cooinda offers 48 air-conditioned Lodge Rooms, 24 twin share Swags in Outback Quarters, 80 powered campsites, 300 unpowered campsites, two restaurants, swimming-pool, petrol station, general store, airport and tour desk.
One of the great advantages of the lodge is that Yellow Water Cruises is based from the property. Guests can head into the pristine Wetlands and see wildlife (crocodiles and birds) at close quarters. Learn about the river system and the importance of the wetlands, identifying the flora and fauna explaining their behaviour in connection with the ancient culture of the Gagudju People. Or head to the Warradjan Aboriginal Cultural Centre located less than 1 kilometre by road or 15 minutes walk from the Lodge. Walk through an Aboriginal cultural display area, cinema shows and an Aboriginal arts and craft shop.
