Queensland: Wooroonooran Rainforest Safari
The Wooroonooran rainforest safari through the lush areas south of Cairns are relaxing sightseeing tours suitable for all ages. Experienced naturalist guides lead you on interesting walks through untouched wilderness free of human development.
Wooroonooran National Park is located away from the beaten tourist tracks so you can revitalise yourself in tranquil rainforest settings. You won’t find bus loads of guided tourists here – just the trees, the small rainforest animals, the cool breeze and a small group of friends.
You will spend 6 entertaining hours outside your tour vehicle in the diverse locations described below.
Josephine Falls
Josephine Falls is a secluded freshwater swimming hole, hidden in the tropical rainforest. A series of small waterfalls flow into large pools surrounded by boulders. Rainforest trees hang over the water, keeping it cool and refreshing.
Babinda Boulders
Walk to the spectacular gorge and listen to the ancient Aboriginal legend about the creation of the Boulders. Snorkel and swim in a freshwater pool (masks and snorkels provided).
Johnstone River Crocodile Farm
Cuddle a crocodile or let a snake wrap itself around you for your souvenir photo. Join the amazing crocodile feeding show and take close-up photos of these ancient creatures.
Eubenangee Swamp
This wetland is like Kakadu National Park on a smaller scale. This is bird and crocodile watching at its best! (Binoculars are provided.)
Goldsborough Valley
This is the former site of a gold rush, when the most prominent sounds were the scratching of picks and shovels searching the dirt for golden morsels of wealth. The Goldsborough Valley is also the former home of the Malanbarra Clan. On the walk to Kearney's Falls, you will learn about Aboriginal life in this ancient upland rainforest.
