Many of our rivers are easily accessible by 4WD vehicle (as provided by our guides) and those inaccessible parts of the Maruia and other exceptional rivers in the area can be accessed quickly by our helicopter fly-out service. The Lodge itself is right on the banks of one of the most famous Brown Trout Rivers in the world - the Maruia River has 186 brown trout per kilometre or 296 per mile (as surveyed by the Ministry of Agriculture and Fisheries). It is a great river for both the novice and the intrepid angler - a tributary of the Buller River System ensures a variety of good trout fishing on your doorstep. The Lodge has approximately 2km of river frontage on the Maruia River.
